With the release of CALIE'S GIFT, Madeline Arroyo made her debut as a children's book author. Madeline grew up devouring books. A native of the Bronx, she spent many evenings imagining herself in far away places, carried away into the worlds of Shakespeare, King Arthur, and Hans Christian Andersen. Her love of books led her to pursue a degree in English literature. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University's Barnard College, where she also trained and was licensed as an English teacher. Life, however, took her down an unexpected path and she has spent her adult career in the corporate world.

Madeline has found a gratifying outlet for her love of children and teaching by serving as a Sunday school teacher at Key to Faith Ministries in Long Island, New York, where she has made her home this past eleven years. Having lived most of her life in New York City, she now takes great pleasure in watching the colorful birds, and listening to the cardinals sing, in the backyard of her Long Island home.

Calie's Gift In this heartwarming, beautifully illustrated story, schoolchildren remind an elderly friend that Jesus Christ is the gift of Christmas. Every day old Calie pulls her shopping cart to the small urban park where she shares her musical gifts with the local schoolchildren. Over months and many tunes, Calie and several of the schoolchildren become friends. So when the children discover Calie's hostility towards everything associated with Christmas, they plan a special present for her, reminding her that Christmas is all about Jesus Christ.
